Will of One

When free will diminishes God's will, what results?

Who can tell... Beyond the consequences that result, sometimes many centuries later.

Surely God can redeem us from the mistakes of our own free will, even the greatest and most scorned of sinners.

Yet the journey with free will differs for each one of us. Some walk through the wilderness, some through the harvest and even some through wars and kingship.

Our free will determines that we walk in a certain road, whether predestined for us or by our own choice, and slowly this becomes one's life. And then we ask is this God's mercy at work or is this our own choice. Some would claim, free will was laid at the feet of Christ when there's blessings and when it's a wilderness, can this be God's path for us? And no one knows if we chase that oasis or if the desert pushed us towards to the oasis. Was it our free will or God's will that got us there? Or was our path simply a testament of the complexity of the paradox which says it was never a straight path but one full of twists and turns. Sometimes, when we complain and turn away and by God's grace turn back. Or even more scarily, what if the other way round and we have been walking in the wrong directions all along. At least till we are lost.

What does lost mean in the spirit of our will versus God's will? If we cannot see God's will, then doesn't our own free will dictate our lives? And without signs from God, are we then not lost? Or even if we seek the free will and advice of others that complicate our hearts and also God's heart, how can we be sure whose will is dictating? Hasn't the bible and history shown us the many failures of this paradox and the slant and nature of us man?

And some talk about the complexity and plurality of this free will. It can be 20% self, 20% God and 60% everyone else. That it depends who is primary and who is secondary. And we cannot grasp the complexity of it. We don't do a multi-criteria analysis to decide this with weightages applied for the decisions we make. And even those who apply such weights know that there's subjective interpretation and judgment of each criteria. And we can dutifully apply such frameworks in every decision we make and end up... Still lost.

What is God's will in our lives? Who are we listening to? Who are we talking to? Who is influencing our lives? Who has influenced out lives and our will in the past? Who is present? What are the voices saying? What interpretations are we listening to? How does our compass slide?

What if.... Our will of "One" is simply not ... Can we tell?

Maybe God's silence is the most important voice we need to hear today. Not to take control of what we hear and how to act, but to simply wait and reflect upon Him. And many of us have got it all wrong in this noisy and always moving world.

Do we take God as a voice to be heard only when we want to hear it. Or do we hear his voice beyond our own and wait for his voice even when He's silent. Not to fill it with our own, the nonsense out there or worldly wisdom.

Maybe this is how we find the will of "One"?
