It's sad to hear when a young person passes away.
One of my former interns in CDP did at 25 years old.
Just one week short of her birthday.
God knows what happened.
I still remember making a decision not to continue with her internship. I can imagine how sad she might have been. She tried her work despite the challenges of working in her second language, keeping up with digital workplaces in spite of poor internet connections ,etc.
I know she did her best and I respect fully her earnestness in sharing her struggles and persevering the internship. I know she wanted to do forest work in the field. For a girl in Indonesia, it's hard, sometimes dangerous.
And for me, upon hearing this, I sometimes wish I didn't make that decision to let her go. To hang on to her, to help her grow, keep her safe.
Sometimes, in work, we are so cruel with ourselves and the people around us. We judge them based on what we don't want to be judged on ourselves. And we fail to treasure the good values that a person brings.
So what's the point of all the strategies, all the logic, all the brilliance if we fail to care for each other.
Rest in peace Wais. Our prayers are with you and your family. Hope to see you again one day in heaven. Pray to God you had positive memories in your final steps of your journey.
