Shortcuts
Don't say it's too hard
When your life has many shortcuts
Your strawberries are sweeter
And the air a little cooler
Your burden a little lighter
Even if bodies somewhat weaker
Don't say you cannot
Walk a little bit further
When you have wheels to ride
A car to drive, someone to serve
To carry the weight, of the
Abundance, and waste in your life
Don't say it's too hard
When you try to cut corners
But find the distance longer
Because some things can't be rushed
Kids, relationships take time to develop
Faster it seems, yet not higher, not further, not stronger
Don't say you cannot
Walk life a little kinder
When it's easier to repent later
When your time is winding down
And the grace ever stronger
From a God that is forgiving, and a word that's always changing
Don't say my life is not better
Because others have it easier
When you have a helper
From here or abroad, younger or older
Who did things for you, appreciated or never
Serving from beneath you, over and over
Don't say you're unloved
When you don't have a fortune
From an ancestor before
Or that you don't have a choice
Because luck can't be made, gambles don't go your way
And you never found a voice
Don't blame your father
When he brought you into being
To carry the burden of your existence
Or who simply chose not to be a fool
Cos it paid nothing in kind, more life's resistance
To guide you through, to clean up poo
Don't say it's boring
When it's not entertaining
Because the world is moving much faster
That pictures turn to movies
And not the other way round
Our minds are becoming restless, never to be found.
Don't accuse others
When they've taken shortcuts
And it's worked out for them, but not for you
You lose things you need to cherish
When pride has consumed you
And your jealousy starts to flourish
As taught, don't hurt others
When you lose sight of lessons learnt
It's easy to think teachers, and those before
They've become a distraction
It's easy to shun them when they disagree
And all they know, a mere mention
We all take a shortcut
Without realising what we have lost
That a journey we've not walked
Is a journey not needed to be sought
Life will seem a lot, so much easier
But without knowing, God so much further
Don't give up on hope
When the wilderness is harsh
When your depression squeezes
Because darkness is within
And the light from beyond, it comes and goes
But trying, guiding you to forever
